The bead depicts the most widespread ornament in Byzantium, with the most ancient eastern roots: the plant ornament «Byzantine flower». The palmette, resembling a heart with a cross-shaped sprout inside, is interpreted as a heart blossoming with love for the Lord. It symbolizes the resurrection and immortality of the souls in whose hearts «Christ has dwelt».
