St. John Chrysostom has 24 powerful prayers for every hour of the day and night, read in church. The bead bears the words of the tenth evening prayer of John Chrysostom: «Lord, make me worthy to love Thee with all my soul and thought, and to do Thy will in everything». Of the importance of prayers the saint said: «There is nothing stronger than prayer, nothing even close to it in power». The text of the prayer is framed by carnation flowers. The carnation is a symbol of maternal love: the Mother of God shed tears for Her Son, and carnations grew in the places where the tears fell, so this flower can be found in images of the Mother of God with the Infant.
