The words of a prayer by one of the Optina Elders – St. Anthony of Optina – are written on the bead: Into the hands of Thy great mercy, O my God, I commit: my soul and my much-suffering body, my husband given to me by Thee, and all my beloved children. Be Thou our Helper and Protector throughout our whole life, at our departure and after death, in joy and sorrow, in fortune and misfortune, in sickness and health, in life and death; in all things may Thy holy will be with us, as in heaven so on earth. Amen.
