The Kazan Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos is one of the most venerated icons in Russia. The icon was revealed at the site of a fire in Kazan in 1579. In 1904 the sacred original was stolen and destroyed, but the Mother of God has revealed the icon's miraculous power through its many copies. Through prayer before the Kazan image, healings take place, as well as many miracles connected with help in arranging one's personal life. On the reverse of the pendant is written: "Preserve Your servants from all misfortunes, blessed Mother of God!"
