Few names in history are comparable in significance to that of St. Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Baptizer of Rus, who for centuries determined the spiritual destiny of the Russian Church. Vladimir the Red Sun, as he was called in Rus, made a great contribution to the development of Christianity - he baptized Rus in 988. In doing so, the prince laid the foundation for a cultural and spiritual layer of our history. The Baptism of Rus was a sacred event - Rus became the successor of true Christianity after Byzantium, the so-called Third Rome.
