The front of the cross depicts the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Beneath the Crucifixion is the skull of Adam. According to Holy Tradition, the remains of Adam lay on Golgotha, where the Crucifixion of Christ took place. By the providence of God the blood of Christ washed the skull of Adam and, in his person, cleansed mankind from the defilement of sin, thereby granting the possibility of salvation.

The reverse bears a short prayer addressed to the Lord, traditionally placed on baptismal crosses: "Save and Protect".
