The front of the cross depicts the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Above is placed the icon of the Most Holy Trinity — the image of the Triune God who appeared in the form of three Angels to the forefather Abraham. The Angels are seated at the table around a chalice, which symbolises the coming sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
On either side are the images of the authors of the Divine Liturgy, St John Chrysostom and St Basil the Great.
The reverse bears the image of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God, a sign of the Mother of God's intercession in prayer for mankind before God. Around it are icons of the saints: St Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Blessed Xenia of St Petersburg, St Sergius of Radonezh and the Great Martyr Panteleimon the Healer.
These saints are prayed to for health and for help in the various burdens of life.
