The front of the cross depicts the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. On either side Christ is attended in supplication by the Most Holy Mother of God and St John the Forerunner. Above, on the suspension loop of the cross, is placed the image of the Holy Trinity.
The reverse bears the image of St Alexander of Svir, who beheld the mystery of the Holy Trinity. He is one of the few saints in the history of the Church to whom the Trinity appeared during his lifetime. Beside him is placed a prayer to this great wonderworker: "O our venerable father Alexander, by thy prayers preserve us in this life."
