The Crucifixion of Christ with attendant figures. The Holy Trinity. St Nicholas the Wonderworker. The Guardian Angel. The front of the cross depicts the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ. On either side He is attended in the Deesis (intercession for mankind) by the Most Holy Mother of God and the prophet John the Forerunner, Baptist of the Lord. Above is the Holy Trinity — the image of the Triune God who appeared in the form of three Angels to the forefather Abraham. Below is St Nicholas the Wonderworker, venerated as a healer of illness, patron of travellers and especially of those at sea, and a helper in trade, in study and in the search for a worthy spouse. At the centre of the reverse is the Guardian Angel. Around him are the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the holy blessed Matrona of Moscow and Xenia of St Petersburg, and below them the holy righteous spouses Peter and Fevronia of Murom. These saints are prayed to for happiness in family life, for help in ordering one's personal life and for protection in family needs.
